The guest finds the mistake after they have paid for it.

Then the only fix is a refund and an apology in front of the queue. A screen facing the guest shows every item as it is rung through.

Caught at the counter, in two seconds

A second screen faces the customer and builds the order in real time: every item, every modifier, every price. The guest checks it before they pay, and a wrong item gets fixed at the counter by the person who spotted it. The plate that arrives at the table is the one they asked for.

When the guest handles the tip

The Dartford Sports Bar, tips

Up tenfold

April runs The Dartford Sports Bar, an Admiral Taverns pub. Tips rose tenfold after the pub moved to guest handled payment. She says so on camera, by name, at her own venue.

Between transactions the display carries your branding, your promotions and your loyalty sign up. It sits in front of a customer who is already buying, at the one moment they are standing still. The same screen takes the payment: contactless, chip and PIN, Apple Pay, Google Pay and swiped cards, with preset tip amounts the guest picks privately.

What it costs

Part of SkyTab POS at £39 a month

The customer display is part of the SkyTab POS hardware set, with £0 upfront, alongside the receipt printer and cash drawer. The card machine is free, with free installation, no rental and no PCI fee. Transactions are tokenised and covered by PCI validated point to point encryption. Installed face to face, with Shift4 support around the clock. Prices exclude VAT.

Questions operators ask

Is the customer display an extra I have to pay for?

It is part of the SkyTab POS hardware set, at £39 a month for the till with nothing upfront. Tell us your counter layout and we will confirm exactly what is included before you commit to anything.

Does it actually increase tips?

It changes who asks. A screen prompting with preset amounts removes the awkward moment where a server has to raise it, and that moment is where most tips get lost. April at The Dartford Sports Bar saw tips rise tenfold after moving to guest handled payment.

Can I put my own branding on it?

Yes. The idle screen between transactions carries your branding, promotions and loyalty sign up, in front of a customer at the one moment they are standing still.

Does the customer pay on the display or on a separate card machine?

On the display. It takes contactless, chip and PIN, Apple Pay, Google Pay and swiped cards directly.

Is card data stored on it?

No. Transactions are tokenised and covered by PCI validated point to point encryption, so card data does not sit on your hardware. There is no PCI fee on your account.

Where does a customer display work best?

Any counter where the guest stands opposite the till: coffee shops, takeaways, quick service counters, bars, hotel receptions, golf clubhouses and retail counters. In full table service a handheld does the same job at the table.

Everything else runs on the same account

A card machine is one part of it. The till, the kiosk and your own ordering page all sit on the same account, at the same rate, with the same support.
